By virtue of its location within the comprehensive land development plans for the City of Greenville and surrounding Washington County planning area, the R-1A district is established to protect low-density residential areas having a rural character now developed with one-family detached dwellings and to protect adjoining areas presently undeveloped or in agricultural usage, likely to be developed for such purposes.
