§ 3104. Nonconforming signs permitted.

  • (a)

    General. Except as herein specified, the lawful use of any sign or billboard existing at the time of the enactment of this article may be continued although such use does not conform to the provisions of this article. Whenever a nonconforming use has been discontinued, such use shall not thereafter be reestablished, and any future use shall be in conformity with the provisions of this article.

    Any signs damaged by fire or other causes or destroyed to the extent of fifty (50) percent repairs of the fair market value or more, shall not be repaired or rebuilt, if it is a nonconforming use. It must be repaired or rebuilt in conformance with the regulations of this article.

    (b)

    Bench signs. Upon expiration of any contract with the city relating to same, all bench signs shall be removed from public streets and right-of-ways and thereafter disallowed.
