Article IX. GREENVILLE PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES |
Division 2. APPOINTMENT |
§ 2-321. Procedure for appointment.
The following is the procedure for appointment to the board of trustees:
(1)
City clerk's office to notify city council at least two (2) months in advance of a term expiration;
(2)
Declare an opening for the school board during a regular city council meeting, set application deadline date, and announce public forum date and time;
(3)
Receive applications during a two-week (fourteen-day) period;
(4)
Application to contain permission to perform a background check, child abuse check, and contain other self-certifying statements regarding felonies and/or applicable misdemeanors;
(5)
Application to list qualifications under Miss. Code Ann. § 37-7-201 (applicant must be resident of Greenville Public School District and registered elector in Greenville);
(6)
Disqualifying crimes will be the same as those listed by the State Department of Education, Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct, Standard 1, Professional Conduct; Standard 3, Unlawful Acts; and Standard 4, Educator/Student Relationship;
(7)
Advertise vacancy through local print media three (3) times (e.g., Wed., Sun., and Wed. publication) and utilize other forms of media available;
(8)
Hold public forum;
(9)
Nominate applicant at meeting of council.
