§ 4-121. Purpose.

Latest version.
  • Effective October 1, 2013, the governing authorities of the City of Greenville in its efforts to prevent the introduction and spread of contagious or infectious diseases; and to provide for the support of the same, do hereby enact the following regulations and fees for mosquito control services. The City of Greenville continues to foster ongoing mosquito control activities in order to reduce the risks associated with the West Nile Virus. These efforts include enhanced response with mosquito trapping, testing, larvicide treatment and the control of mosquitoes through removing, filling, draining, emptying, treating, altering, or otherwise eliminating mosquito breeding sources, for the express purpose of protecting the public health.

The most effective method of controlling mosquitoes is to eliminate any habitat in which they would thrive or be attracted to. While the city continues to treat limited common areas, the greatest preventive impact comes from measures taken by each property owner to control mosquitoes around their homes.
