§ 7-91. Improper, unlawful use of water; disconnection.

  • (a)

    It shall be the duty of the city engineer, or anyone connected with the utility accounts office in an official capacity to discontinue water service for any improper use thereof, such as tampering with the water meter, stop cock, service pipe, or supplying other parties or premises with water contrary to the provisions of this division and contrary to the terms of the application for water service.

    (b)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to make any extension of a water pipe, or pipe from one (1) lot to another, or from one (1) premises to another premises, or to make use of water service for any other illegal or fraudulent purpose.

    (c)

    Every violation of this division shall constitute a misdemeanor, punishable as any other petit larceny and shall immediately be reported by the utility billing manager to the mayor and city council. They, in turn, shall institute a prosecution upon the advice of the city attorney against all parties in violation of this division.
